This week has been crazy busy.. I’ve been scrambling to process PDXWLF photos (I’ll have a post on that soon!), entertain family, and prepare for a trip to Utah! We just spent our first day in Zion National Park, and I can’t wait to share some of the photos – what an amazing place!
This first photo from Instagram this week was from another national park: Denali! We had some beautiful clouds to contrast the lush landscape. I’d love more time to explore there.
This was my submission last week for Leanne Cole’s Monochrome Madness. The theme was “graffiti.” I thought this ruin from our trip to Hawaii was appropriate. The decay of this remarkable find was so interesting to photograph. And there was certainly plenty of graffiti there.
Another national park! Yosemite! We had so much fun there last year, that we decided to do something similar again this year – thus, Utah. We’re already getting some great shots; I’ll have lots of fun stories to tell!
Back to Denali National Park, this was the first bear we saw in Alaska. He was wet and scraggly, but the bus actually got rather close, so we were able to snap a few good photos of him. However, seeing a bear from a bus can’t even begin to compare to witnessing these titans clamming, swimming, running, or nursing while backpacking.
Another tropical picture from Hawaii, this was a massive banyan tree we came across while visiting a park known for its beautiful waterfall. I was mesmerized by the myriad roots dangling from the heights, and the wind made for some rather interesting long exposures.
This is somewhat older, but I still love it. This is the spring sakura in Portland’s Waterfront Park, and it’s one of my favorite things to shoot in Portland. You can read about some of my other top shooting subjects around Portland here.
Finally, my favorite this week hails just from last weekend. We took a guest out to Oregon’s famed Cannon Beach, and we were gifted with a beautiful sunny day (rare for this time of year) with just a hint of clouds (just to make the pictures more interesting, you know). You can read all about that amazing day here.
I’ll have lots of new pictures to share after this weekend, so be sure to follow me on Instagram for all the latest!
