Happy Monday, yet again!  Another week, another seven images.  As always, it was hard to rank these.  Also, I’m trying something somewhat new.  Notice a color theme?  I’ll keep experimenting.  I’m working toward a more uniform feed on my Instagram account, so I’ll continue to tweak and see what works!  I’d love to hear your thoughts below!

This first image was from beautiful, tropical Hawaii.  We explored so many beaches there, each one unique.  Have you been to Hawaii?  You can read our full adventures on this trip here.

Next, another image from that same trip.  Not surprising that the lava there would result in similarly-colored images.  This picture is cool, because it’s a close-up of a big crack in the lava.  I’m a sucker for details, so this caught my attention.  It’s also worth noting that big black spot is a massive hole in the ground leading to a lava tube.  I love the geology of Hawaii!

This one brings me closer to home.  This is a tide pool at Cannon Beach, and the fog that morning really lent a sense of isolation, even though there were others out that early.  Eerie.  Simple.  Beautiful.

Here’s a photo from my post this week on shooting the cherry blossoms in the rain.  While we were all a tad cold and wet (and I’ll daresay somewhat miserable), the resulting pictures capture these specific circumstances and grant something different to my sakura collection.  You can read the full story here.

Guess where this one’s from!  Rocky shoreline… tropical sunshine….  If you guessed Hawaii, you’re spot-on!  This is an interesting image, as it’s actually one I used for experimenting with HDR.  It’s something I’m not terribly fond of, probably because I don’t have the best software/workflow to apply it.  You can read that post here.  I might experiment more with it, but I tend to lean more toward shooting what’s actually there and less toward digital manipulation.  What do you think?

I’m proud of this picture.  The Oregon Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival is a huge draw for locals and visitors alike.  It’s an opportunity for folks to welcome spring with fields of colorful flowers.  The problem with photographing it: all of the pictures look the same.  As you know, I love to stand out, so I tried whatever I could to shoot the same subject differently.  This was the result.  It was also my submission this week for Leanne Cole’s Monochrome Madness, with the theme of “from under.”

Lastly, this was my favorite image from this week.  It’s once again from – gasp! – Hawaii.  I stumbled upon what looked to be a steel pier skeleton while everyone else was shooting the sunset, and I was once more drawn to the details and patterns here.  I love discovering little odd things that cross my path, so this was my favorite this week.  You can read the story of that day here.
