WC: The Good Kitty

My kitties are my kids.  With how active we are, and with how much we love to travel, cats are the perfect companion, as they can survive a few days alone with only an ample supply of food and water and a clean litter box.  We don’t like to leave them behind, but we have the freedom to do so.  And they’re all the more lovey when we return.

They’re also the perfect photography subjects.

WC: My Little Distraction

I love shooting landscapes and anime conventions, but I also spend a lot of time on my computer at home editing photos.  And amidst the routine button presses and artistic tweaks, I’m inevitably distracted.  While I can usually remain rather focused, I have found our sweet (evil) Mochi has the power to draw my attention with her deceiving cuteness.

Weekly Challenge: Three Relaxing Kitties

This week’s double challenge, for once, was pretty straightforward!  The first is amazingly appropriate: relax.  With the holidays fast approaching – shopping, cooking, photo gifts, and Christmas cards – this is a busy time of year.  Add on top of that the fact that I’ve been up to my eyeballs in Kumoricon photos with their own deadlines, and you can bet that candle’s burning at both ends.  And that’s all within the confines of the limited schedule additional holiday travel affords.

In short: I’ve been busy!  So a reminder to relax is in order.

The second prompt is “one, two, three,” encouraging posts pertaining to threes.

Therefore, I am happy to present to you: three very relaxed kitties.

Photo of the Week: Meet Mochi!

I seem to be on a cat streak with my posts as of late.. but can you blame me?  They’re so photogenic!  Both real and virtual, I love the little fuzzballs through and through; I never tire of their entertaining, quirky ways.

Our little family was broken last year when we had to say goodbye to our sweet Zoe, a maine coon/tabby mix who brightened my home for nearly half my life.  Now it is healing with the addition of a new terror on four paws…  Meet Mochi!

Photo of the Week: Cat Cafes

As you’ve probably learned by now, I have a thing for cats.  Each one is a distinctly unique individual, and they never cease to amaze us with their quirks, their cuteness, their brilliance.  They capture our hearts and our internet.  I love the process of getting to know a new personality, and I have never known a home without at least one of these furry companions.

Zoe: Fond Memories

© LotsaSmiles Photography 2015

Zoe was a beautiful cat, obstinate and aloof, yet a softie sweetheart to those she knew well and loved.  She had to have things her way or not at all, and since I wished for nothing more than her happiness, this inevitably led to a spoiled furry princess under our roof.  She got first pick of the best furniture; we sat elsewhere or worked around her.  There were days when I didn’t get up from the couch nearly all day because she ordained my lap to be her throne for the day.  She loved her pettings and the occasional brush (only on her head and face), but only on her terms.  She would even take any scraps you were willing to give her (and beg fervently), but she never worked too hard for them.
