Happy Friday, all!

Boy, this was a really difficult week to sort these.  This set represents so many disparate aspects of my life; it’s crazy to look at sometimes.

This first one was from our eclipse weekend.  We met these pack goats at Olallie Lake, on some training missions.  This sure seems like a smart way to go backpacking!

This was also my submission for last week’s Monochrome Madness from Leanne Cole.

My home is seeing record-breaking heat this week, but we’re doing our best to stay cool.  And though I have pictures this week from frozen Yosemite and some refreshing beaches, it’s hard to imagine my being cold.

This week sure was difficult to rank – I love all of these photos!

Let’s start with a beautiful Costa Rican sunset.  We lucked out catching a couple of truly stunning evenings from our resort in Puntarenas.  The heat and humidity and haze really provided the perfect canvas for brilliant colors.

Happy Friday, all!  I had a fun set of photos this week!

This first one is from Washington’s Palouse.  We took a weekend trip out there, and while it rained part of the time, we still had some beautiful weather in there, too.  This is the expansive view from Steptoe Butte.  From up top, you can espy everything from canola farms to wind farms.  It was quite the view.

This was a good week!  Not so much on Instagram, but where it really matters – right here on my blog!  I’m very excited to be sharing these photos with so many new followers – welcome!

This first image was from our river tour in Tarcoles, Costa Rica.  This crocodile just looks so friendly and happy!  Who wouldn’t want to pet it?

So I kind of liked posting my pictures in the order that I like, so I think I’ll just do that from now on.  After all, I don’t really care about the likes (and I shouldn’t), so why focus on that?

This first image was from our trip to Washington’s Palouse region.  Those beautiful rolling hills don’t get old, and they go on forever!

I’ll be honest – this post was scheduled about a week ahead of time.  Usually, I do these the day of, but I couldn’t be sure of my connectivity, and I wanted to make sure you still got a post.

So, instead of posting these in order of likes (since I don’t have that data yet), this is in order of my own personal preference.  I’ve commented before how I tend to like some photos more than the Instaverse masses, so I guess this is a chance to show you what an artist thinks of her own work.  I welcome you to let me know your favorites below!

I’m always amazed by the actual reactions each week to my photos versus my expectations.  Most of the time, the Instaverse simply doesn’t like the same pictures I do.  It gives me some very interesting insight to my photography.  Am I viewing a picture better than it actually is?  Or was it simply poor timing, poor hashtags, poor algorithm?  Who can know, for sure?

Either way, I’ll continue to put my photos out there.  These are the ones I like, at least.

This week was a little better!  I saw increased engagement, and I even have a new inductee to the 100 Club!  I think I’ve finally figured out the secret, and I really should have known: my own engagement makes my account more visible.  I made a point this week if spending five minutes each time I post not only posting my picture, but then turning around and liking, commenting, and following others.  It takes more time, but I see huge improvements when I do those things.  Go figure.

I’ve got some fun landscapes this week.

This first one was from our trip to the Palouse.  A quick weekend trip to eastern Washington, most of the weekend was fairly rainy.  However, we managed to luck out with one solid day if dry yet cloudy weather.  The lighting for this photo wound up beautifully dappled.  I loved the contrast of the verdant green against the tan.
