Happy Monday!

As I mentioned before, I’m switching up my schedule, moving these previously-Friday posts to Mondays.  Some wistful scenery from distant locations should start your week off well 🙂

With the move, this also means I have a couple of extra pictures this week; I’m sure you won’t mind.

Boy, this week was really tough to sort!

This first one was from the train in Alaska.  I passed almost the entire ride standing between the cars, braving the rushing wind to capture as much of the passing landscape into pixels as I could.

This lily pond was discovered on our trip to Hawaii.  While this beach was known for its black sand beach, I was simply fascinated by the ruins I stumbled upon in the trees.  You can read all about that adventure here.

Next, a look at home.  I love the beautiful sunrises we get in Portland, but it’s hard to capture just the right conditions.  This morning worked out quite well.

Here’s another look at Hawaii.  While everyone was shooting the sunset through the clouds beyond the observatories, I couldn’t resist a glance backwards at some of the fellow photographers.

And this is Bryce!  This is from last week’s challenge, “sweet.”  I am so excited to begin posting pictures from this trip.  While we didn’t have the snow dusting I was hoping for in Zion, we found it in Bryce, and it was magical.  I took so many pictures, and I have lots of fun stories to share.  Don’t forget to follow my blog so you don’t miss out!

This is another from Alaska – the backpacking portion this time.  This bear was out clamming on the beach, and I liked the framing with him approaching these seagulls.

Into the top three, This was sunset in Yosemite.  This mist lingered in the valley every day.  If you couldn’t tell by now, I love our national parks; they truly are remarkable places.

Here’s my favorite photo from the annual Portland Winter Light Festival (PDXWLF).  Everything lights up, burns, reflects, and glows.  We even managed to have good weather this year, so I’m happy.  You can read all about my experience this year right here.

Finally, my favorite this week was my submission for Leanne Cole’s Valentine’s Monochrome Madness.  I took this at a local garden park just after a rainfall.  I love experimenting with macro shots, and I love the detail of the droplets.
