Happy 2024!

I was reviewing my pictures from Norway for which “wow” photo I wanted to share this week for my Biweekly Wow.  But then I reached this image from one of our first nights camping.  It always brings a wide grin to my face, so I thought I’d share this delightful photo with you this week.

After a very long day of driving, we made our way down a very narrow little road to where the internet promised lay a hidden gem of a campground.  We ultimately found it, but not before spotting these guys.

As soon as I saw them, I asked Aaron to stop the car.  They had been retreating from the noisy car, but the moment I stepped away from the obnoxious machine, all 16 fuzzy ears perked up, and they happily trotted toward me.  It made me chuckle to watch them saunter in my direction much like a dog might cautiously run toward a stranger promising treats.

The massive lens I had affixed to my camera must have fascinated them; every single eyeball was locked in my direction, ears forward, heads slightly cocked.  It was such a funny sight, I couldn’t help but laugh at them.

Look at them.  How could you not love those adorable little faces?

I wanted to go up to them and pet them, but they wisely kept their distance.  Instead, I contented myself with capturing the photogenic ungulates from afar.

We would come to find that goats roam all throughout Norway, and I had many other opportunities to photograph these silly little creatures.  But this first encounter was so simple and so wonderful.  It was exactly the moment I needed after such a tiring and trying day.  It is such a happy tiny memory that will continue to make me smile for years to come.

    1. Haha! Yes, they were definitely judging me… and possibly wondering if I’d produce some food for them!
