I’m working on an exciting new project! I love this new idea, and I’ll be sharing it with you soon (can’t wait? my awesome patrons already know what’s happening!).
But while I’ve been working on that, it does mean I haven’t posted much to Instagram lately. I did, however, post to 500px last week, so I have those images to share with you this week.
I also noticed when I update the acronym to reference 500px instead of Instagram, I get a fun “TWO 5” thing going on. (more…)
Can you believe it?? I actually forgot to post this yesterday! I feel so silly; I hope you’ll forgive me.
I also did not post as much to Instagram this week as I had originally intended. As you know, I’m moving away from Instagram and more toward 500px – though I didn’t post much there this week, either. Summertime gets really busy!
Considering this shift in platform, I’m thinking about changing the name of these weekly recaps. Do you think I should call them “This Week on 500px” (TWO5)? Or should I come up with something more creative? (more…)
Happy Monday once again!
Unsurprisingly, this was another difficult week to rank, but here goes!
This first one is from our hike on the Savage Alpine Trail in Denali National Park. It was cloudy, but it was such a beautiful experience in that remarkable park. Next time, we’ll have to stay long enough for the clouds to clear so we can see the grand mountain in person!
Greetings, all! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and that you’re enjoying the beautiful spring (or fall) weather, wherever you are.
This week was difficult to sort by my favorites, which just tells me it’s a good set.
This first image was from the top of Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii. We had ascended the famed volcano to capture sunset at its peak. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize that we’d be kicked out of the viewing area just after sundown. In the future, we’ll now know to get permission beforehand to stay late for the stars.
I did manage to capture this one image, just before we were forced to vacate. I look forward to having another go.
Another week, another seven photos! How are you folks liking the new style? I’ve been trying it out for a while now, and though I like the new consistency it lends to my feed, I’m not always pleased with the muted colors. I have some more ideas that I’d like to try with my Instagram, so I might be rolling some of those out soon. I welcome your thoughts below!
This first picture was from a sunrise attempt in Tokyo. Honestly, while we were vacationing there, we didn’t give much thought to planning an official shoot. We merely walked across this bridge the night before, saw the cool tunnel effect the buildings lent, and noticed it also happened to face east. We just got up the next morning and hoped for the best.
As is often the case, the sun wasn’t in the right position to shine down this canal, and it was a bit cloudy anyway. However, I did appreciate the flock of seagulls that all took off from the water, giving me a more interesting subject to this otherwise mediocre scene.
Welcome to a new week! Last week, Instagram saw some chilly images from Yosemite, a couple of beaches, the Milky Way, and beautiful Bryce! Which was your favorite?
This first picture is of Yosemite Falls in the selfsame national park. We came upon these falls in the afternoon, and we loved the rainbow they cast. We resolved to return in the morning to get sunrise on the wall and catch that rainbow… not quite thinking that our intended vantage would be the wrong angle for the rainbow. Whoops!

You should notice this set all have a consistent look. I’m trying this out for a bit to see how it pans out. What do you think?

This first image was from my trip to Alaska. We backpacked 26 miles along this shore, across sand, pebbles, rocks, and boulders. We saw bald eagles, foxes, moose tracks, and plenty of bears. You can read all about that amazing trip here.
Happy Monday, yet again! Another week, another seven images. As always, it was hard to rank these. Also, I’m trying something somewhat new. Notice a color theme? I’ll keep experimenting. I’m working toward a more uniform feed on my Instagram account, so I’ll continue to tweak and see what works! I’d love to hear your thoughts below!

This week’s selection turned out well. I usually mostly select my Instagram photos at random, though I try to pick a variety of my better images.
I’m trying something a little different with my set this week. Check it out on my Instagram account to see it in action, and I’ll talk more about that next Monday.
This first image was from a leisurely stroll through one of Kyoto’s many shrines. Everything was so green – even in the fall – and the views were spectacular. I can’t wait to go back to Japan.
