Photostory: Zion’s Canyon Overlook

I have fallen in love with Utah and its many national parks, and I seek to add many more from across the country to my list.  We were in Utah quite recently to explore Arches National Park and Canyonlands, and we couldn’t wait to return.

We had arrived in the famed Zion National Park, and we were ready.  After a long, five-hour drive in from the Salt Lake City airport (word to the wise: Las Vegas is actually much closer), our fingers were itching for our shutters.

WC: Rock Candy

I’m afraid this one will have to be really quick, as I’m on the road.  We are spending a few incredible days in Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park.  We’re having an absolute blast, and I’ll have some fun stories to share.  Be sure to follow my blog here so you don’t miss out!

TWOI: 1/12/18

Another week gone by!  January is simply flying; before I know it, it’ll be summertime again.

This week on Instagram, I focused a bit on some Yosemite pictures from last year.  It’s wintertime again, and this season reminds me so much of that trip.  Exciting news: we’ve booked flights to Bryce/Zion!  Look forward to pictures from that trip after February.  I sure hope there’s snow!

This first picture was my submission for Leanne Cole’s weekly Monochrome Madness challenge with the theme of “holidays.”  This photo was actually taken at a Lindsey Stirling concert, and these were lights on the curtained wall.  So festive!

This Week on Instagram: 5/19/17

This week was a little better!  I saw increased engagement, and I even have a new inductee to the 100 Club!  I think I’ve finally figured out the secret, and I really should have known: my own engagement makes my account more visible.  I made a point this week if spending five minutes each time I post not only posting my picture, but then turning around and liking, commenting, and following others.  It takes more time, but I see huge improvements when I do those things.  Go figure.

The Magic of Moonscapes

Photographers are a special kind of crazy.  We willingly look ridiculous to get the right angles for a shot, we spend impossible hours deleting stray hairs from an image, and we completely disregard our own safety for the sake of an epic image.

We can also keep the strangest hours.

Delicate Arch

Ok, folks, here it is… our very last arch!  You didn’t think I’d run out of arches to talk about, did you?

We were having so much fun playing around Devil’s Garden that we had to actually rush a bit to get down to Delicate Arch before the started to rain again.  The morning had been so beautiful.. why did the rain come back?

But Delicate Arch was an absolute must for us, so we weren’t going to miss it!

Landscape Arch

I know I promised the amazing story of our third day in Arches last week, but I’m afraid I have one more post for you before I get to that.

I also previously promised some panoramas of our stunning sunrise at Landscape Arch, and this is the promise I get to fulfill this week!

As you already know, it took us three days to finally get our sunrise in Arches, and it was worth the wait.  What I didn’t know is it would likewise take three tries at my computer to get just the right panorama out of that day.
