I'm traveling! See the latest at www.bigtinyworld.com!

Happy Friday, everyone!

I have a good set this week (I think so, anyway :)).  My viewership on Instagram seems to have dipped somewhat from past weeks.  I blame my experimentation.. it’s such a fickle game!

Sadly, I see so many wonderful artists on Instagram who have phenomenal images and paltry engagement.  If you’re on Instagram, I encourage you to go out and like photos and leave meaningful comments.  You can’t imagine how much it means to the photographer to know a real human likes their work.

If you have an Instagram account, I would love to see your pictures.  Leave a link in the comments, and I promise I’ll check it out.

But I’ll also make another promise:  I will never subscribe to “follow for follow,” blind likes, or bots.  I am reserved in who I follow on Instagram, and I won’t like pictures I simply don’t like.  If I follow you, it’s because I genuinely want to see more of your work, and when I comment, it will always be me actually behind those words.

I encourage you to do the same, as sharing photos should be about sharing the beauty of the world through another’s eyes, not about accumulating likes.

I took this first one on a visit to Colorado for Christmas (yes, this is Colorado in late December… you’d never know, right?).  I won’t say too much about it here, because I’d like to feature something similar in an upcoming photo story.

Next, fast-forward to spring!  (It really doesn’t look all that different…)  Mt. Hood is there in the distance, and there’s nothing but cliff in front of the camera.  This is beautiful Coyote Wall in the Columbia River Gorge.

Going along with spring, I believe this will be the last of my sakura pictures.  I hold onto them long after they’re gone…

Another arch from our explorations through Devil’s Garden in Arches National Park.  And there’s Dad, off to explore what lies beyond!

This image is a little older, but I revived it for my changes post this week.  I need to look up which camping trip this was from, but we drove five minutes from our campground in eastern Oregon to shoot stars.  What we weren’t expecting the camera to pick up was a faint glimmer of the northern lights!  I thought it was distant forest fires at first, but the varying colors put the kibosh on that theory.

And unsurprisingly, my top pictures from this week were from our Yosemite trip.  I’ll have some photo stories from there, as well.

This was my most-liked this week, and it was also my submission for Leanne Cole’s weekly Monochrome Madness (she even used it as her cover photo for the post).  And speaking of comments, I got some very kind comments on this image that really made me smile.  Such a simple thing, and it made my day 🙂

I’m posting pictures every day to my Instagram account.  I would love to hear your feedback!
