I'm traveling! See the latest at!

Two new on Instagram and three on 500px this week.  More of a TWO3 than a TWO5; this week got away from me a bit!

On the other hand, I’ve been working on a version 2.0 of my new scatter photos, and I’m really excited about it.  If you’ve been following me on social media, you might have seen the preliminary result.  I spent the weekend making custom wooden frames with my expert-carpenter dad, and I love how they look!  I’ll be updating my page on scatter photos soon, so stay tuned for that!

As for the photos this week, here’s the line-up, ranked by the ones I personally like best.  This week was really tough, as I like all of these.

This first one is a fun one from Costa Rica.  We went wandering through the town of Alujuela on our first day, and these little pigeons were everywhere in the central park.  This one perked up his head just as I shot the picture, and I couldn’t have been happier.

Next is a local shot taken during my morning commute.  It was foggy out, and dew hung heavily on these spiderwebs – which speckled the entire length of the Tilikum Crossing.  I really like the unusual image of the sun, clearly visible through the haze and duplicated in its reflection off of the river below.  Besides, I’m a sucker for details, so this just tickled my photographic eye.

Speaking of details, this little guy surprised us on a hike in the Gorge.  We came for the waterfall, but we noticed a couple of other hikers were intent on a rock near the fall.  This salamander proceeded to pose for us as our little photography group took countless pictures of him from all angles.

This scene is from Washington’s Palouse region.  I had just gotten my new ND filter, so I was excited to try it out.  What better way than with sunset atop Steptoe Butte?  It took several tries to get just the right amount of blur in the distant wind turbines.  But I think these add some wonderful character to the contrasting patchwork of rolling farmland.

Finally, my favorite this week is this image from Yosemite National Park.  It’s difficult to not choose Yosemite as my favorite, as I loved every minute of our winter trip there.  Snow just makes any scene magical.  Which national park should we visit this winter?
