Welcome to the new year! I’m excited to see what it brings.
For this first week of 2018, I have some fun scenes. First, a few from Alaska.
The mist and fog in Denali National Park was breathtaking. Photos simply can’t do it justice. It was too much to see the Great One, itself, but it sure made the scenery beautiful.
Next, another from Denali. This was from our first stop at the Savage River. Beyond this point, the single road through the park became gravel. This was just the start of a very long (but enjoyable) bus ride.
From Denali to the beach, here’s a clamming bear. We saw many of these while backpacking along the coast from Chinitna Bay, but we were careful to keep our distance.
And from one beach to a much warmer one… This shot was taken at Two Step in Hawaii while snorkeling. I love the underwater casing for my Sony, though I have to travel for the best opportunities to use it. It’s a really amazing experience to swim with sea turtles.
And from the ocean to the peak, this was also shot in Hawaii, from atop Mauna Kea. Despite not being fully acclimated to the high altitude, I dashed back and forth to get just the right sunstar against these observatories.
Nearing the top, I return to Alaska. This is from my last daily post on our backpacking adventure. We saw the most bears at Silver Salmon Creek Lodge, including two nursing mothers. It’s so beautiful to watch mother nature in action. You can read that post here.
Finally, my favorite from this week is also from a post this week. I am making some New Year’s resolutions with regards to my photography. You can read all about that here.
This image was from a New Year’s Eve morning shoot of the city. I like the colors of the early dawn, along with the reflections off the water.
I post daily on Instagram. As always, I welcome your comments below!
