Happy Friday!! I fortunately get this holiday off from work, so I’ll be catching up on a few items that have fallen by the wayside. The three-day weekend is a welcome birthday gift 🙂
This week on Instagram, I continued playing with some grid photos (are you liking this new experiment?), and I included some photos from my other photographic life: event photography at Kumoricon.
These first three were from my post responding to this week’s challenge, “peek.” You can read it here.
I like these photos more for the memories they invoke. The photo above was taken during the con’s “Dating Game,” and the prize had just asked the contestants to sing. The first one, dressed as a peacock, just emitted this awful squawk, and it was so unexpected, it broke our host, Zaxel, here.
The one below was taken as part of a series of the convention guests with the mascot, ghost neko. Vic Mignogna took it to the next level, snuggling the fuzzy plush and even leaning in to give it a kiss. It was a riot.
Finally, this last picture from Kumoricon featured on Instagram was taken during the Lip Sync Battle. The MCs for the event, Uptown Cosplay and Momma Sammu Cosplay, entertained the audience while the judges evaluated the contestants. They lip-synced to the Moulin Rouge love medley as the two starring characters from Miraculous Ladybug. Ladybug took her mask off near the end, eliciting cheers from the crowd and revealing her secret identity to her fellow superhero. It was a wild moment (that doesn’t happen in the show (not yet, anyway ;))), and they played it so well.
Next, the first grid this week! This one spanned three days, and it was cool to see it fall into place. I kind of like how I mixed two photos last week, so I might try that again.
We stumbled upon this little guy while visiting a beach in Hawaii. He had some brilliant colors, but I also like how the photo looks in black and white. This was my submission this week for Leanne Cole’s Monochrome Madness, “out in the open.”
These last two grids were my favorites this week. I really liked how the details of this first one was highlighted by the grid format. This one tree had so many tiny branches sprouting out from its trunk. It really stood out amongst all its branchless-trunked neighbors in the Boardman Tree Farm.
Lastly, my favorite this week. This one really lent itself to the grid. My ultimate goal is to find photos that, when divided, can truly stand on their own, yet they still come together to form a larger scene. This one from my post on Day 1 of our amazing backpacking adventure in Alaska fit that goal beautifully, so I was quite happy with it.
