Good morning, and welcome to a new week! This week on Instagram featured shots from Hawaii, some local spots, and, hot off the press: Zion National Park!
This first one was from our trip last year to Yosemite. A bunch of us were photographing Yosemite Falls with this field in the foreground, and this photographer wandered out into the field and into all our shots. Momentarily annoyed, I quickly saw an opportunity to shoot a photographer in the mist. This was my submission for last week’s Monochrome Madness by Leanne Cole.
These next two are from Hawaii. This one was from our puka beach. Sunsets are spectacular in the tropics.
And this was a bit farther inland, a lava field in front of Mauna Kea. I was amused by these cairn guardians in the lava field. I wish we had more time to explore some of the caves there.
This bridge is a bit closer to home, out near the coast. Everything is so lush and green in the wintertime, though it does come at the cost of a lot of rain.
Next, Oregon’s only national park, Crater Lake. We visited this in the wintertime, too. It was rather cold, but the scenery was stunning (and usually is).
Next, a newbie! I’m just beginning to post images from our trip to Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon. This was from last week’s Weekly Wow, and this is an image of Zion’s famous Watchman. You can read all about that here.
Finally, my favorite this week is an older photo. This day was so beautiful at the beach, and the sunset was mesmerizing. I already appreciated the silhouettes of the people taking an evening stroll along the beach, but the gull that swooped in really made the shot. This image just makes me feel peaceful.
