Happy fall, everyone! If you’ve been following my site for a while, you’ll know I simply love love love love LOVE autumn! I can’t wait for the brilliant colors to paint the town. Look forward to photos of the Northwest bathed in oranges, reds, and yellows very soon!
This first image from this week on Instagram hails from Costa Rica. I thought these roots of the “walking palms” were so fascinating. By sprouting new roots and allowing older ones to rot away, these trees can literally walk along the forest floor.
This was a sunset at the Oregon coast. The sun, itself, didn’t put on a radiant show that evening, but I still loved those clouds. So many colors!
Another from the eclipse. I played with cropping on this one, and I like the result.
And the Gorge is still on all of our minds. The summer hiking season is drawing to a close, but we’ve been seeing some rain that will rejuvenate the dry soil and wash away the refuse. I’m anxious to see it again and do whatever I can to help it grow back to this beauty we all know and love.
This is from a different hike out near the coast. The original image is actually a lush green, but I was experimenting with different color casts as part of my trial of the Sleeklens Lightroom preset workflow. I liked the suggestion of autumn, and it makes me long for when the true hues of fall descend upon my home.
These last two were so difficult to rank (the last three, really). We had a cloudy day busing through Denali National Park, and this was the most we saw of the famed mountain. You can read about that journey here. I hope to return someday and see it in all its glory.
Finally, this was from another photo trip this year: Yosemite. By now, you’ve seen several shots of Bridalveil Falls. This was our favorite vantage. The morning sunlight coming through across the top of the falls lent a calming illumination to the scene.
That’s it for this week! Catch daily photos on Instagram, and stay tuned for more Alaska tales next Wednesday!
